Under construction. Where it stands

What Owlseen is going to do

Written down before it ships. The first version is being built now; the rest comes after. None of it is released, so all of it is in the future tense.

First version

Connectors

You’ll connect your own accounts, per workspace, on the Connections page. No shared panel, no scraper, and no keys in a configuration file.

  • Google: each workspace will create its own OAuth client, type it on the Connections page, then allow access
  • Bing Webmaster Tools, with your own access
  • The sites those accounts can see become your list of sites

First version

Overview

Every site on one screen, or any group of them, over the period you pick.

  • Clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position
  • Google and Bing side by side
  • Sites grouped the way you think of them
  • A daily copy of the figures, so your history grows past Search Console’s 16 months from the day you connect

First version

Per-site cards

A card for each site, so the one that moved stands out from the ones that didn’t.

  • Its trend over the period you pick
  • Clicks and position at a glance
  • One click through to that site’s keywords and pages

First version

Keywords and opportunities

Each site’s queries and pages, with what’s worth your time picked out.

  • Queries and pages, by site and across sites
  • Opportunities: queries just off the top, where a small gain could bring clicks
  • What dropped and what rose, compared with the period before

First version

Rank tracker

You’ll pick the keywords that matter and keep their history, day by day.

  • Position per keyword, as Search Console reports it
  • History that starts the day you add a keyword and doesn’t run out
  • No scraping of results pages

First version

Indexing and alerts

You’ll know which of the pages that have shown up in search are in the index, and see it when one falls out.

  • Pages that have shown up in search will be checked through Google’s URL Inspection API, a share each day, and again after a week
  • At most 100 a site per run, inside Google’s limit of 2,000 a site a day
  • Pages only in a sitemap wait for the crawler
  • Each check will be kept, and a screen will show since when a page dropped, not its full timeline
  • Sitemaps checked along the way
  • You’ll see it when an indexed page leaves the index, on screen and through MCP. No email in the first version

After the first version

Planned, in no promised order and with no date.

Later

Site audits

It’ll crawl a sitemap and check each page’s on-page SEO, with a history of every run.

Later

Keyword research with AI

Ideas for what to work on next, starting from what your sites already rank for.

Later

Tasks

A worklist tied to a site, a page or a query, so what you noticed gets done.

What it won’t do

Better said now than discovered later.

  • It will only show what the engines report. Search Console’s own limits stay: anonymised queries stay hidden, and tables hold the most important rows, not all of them.
  • No competitor data: no backlink index, and no traffic estimates for other people’s sites.
  • No visitor analytics. What people do once they’ve arrived is Trailic’s job, from the same publisher.
  • A rank in Owlseen will be Search Console’s average position, not the rank a fixed location sees at a given moment.
